María Ramirez is a journalist, writer and author with 20 years of experience reporting the news.

She is currently Director of Strategy of eldiario.es, a combative, independent newspaper supported by a pioneer reader membership model in Spain.

Previous to this, she was a long-time correspondent and political reporter in Brussels and New York for El Mundo and Univision, covering the crisis of the eurozone and many EU late-night summits and elections around Europe and the U.S., including four Presidential campaigns.

María was a Nieman fellow at Harvard (2017-2018), studying at the MIT how technology can help fight polarization, and led seminars on polarization, nationalism and media distrust in the U.S. and Europe at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics as a Pritzker fellow.

More recently, María has also moved into the entrepreneurial space, trying new things for media, including co-founding two startups, Politibot and El Español.
