With 22 years of senior executive experience in global diaspora fundraising, Mike Bailey has a unique perspective on what it takes to run a successful international fundraising campaign. Mike served on the senior management team of the global diaspora-oriented fundraising organisations Keren Hayesod United Israel Appeal, which raises over US$200 million annually from Jewish communities in 50 countries, and has led fundraising campaigns and professional teams all around the world.
After many years as a fundraiser and regional director, Mike served as Director of Development, in which capacity he managed the departments responsible for marketing, major donors, planned giving, missions, and projects. In this role, Mike oversaw the development and execution of hundreds of new philanthropic projects (including over 100 capital construction projects), established a philanthropic impact investing fund, implemented a new international branding campaign, and developed digital marketing platforms. Mike has extensive experience in training fundraising lay-leadership and professionals, and has conducted practical fundraising seminars as well as helping organisations develop their fundraising strategies in many countries. Leveraging this extensive experience, Mike founded The Practical Fundraiser to assist organisations that deal in fundraising and developing diaspora networks with strategic development, training, personal mentoring, and hands-on practical guidance.
