Emily has worked in the NGO sector for ten years. Before joining the Savitri Trust, she ran an award-winning youth educational campaign to challenge the hate and discrimination facing young people living with HIV. As part of the campaign, she co-produced “Undefeated”, a short film that premiered at Cannes Court Métrage and went on to screen at festivals, schools and conferences across the world, forming the central part of an education resource. Emily has a keen interest in international development, which led to her setting up a maternity clinic in Northern Malawi, where she continues to volunteer and visit when possible. Since joining Savitri, she has been hugely impressed by the project work — she is interested in the power of individuals working together to do good and is passionate about the transformative nature of Savitri’s work, particularly on cataract blindness where small amounts of money can help someone who is blind see again.
