Elizabeth Waichinga (Kenya)

Trust Coordinator, Edumed Trust

Ms. Elizabeth Waichinga is an accomplished Development Communication Practitioner having studied Development Communication to post graduate level and possessing a wealth of experience spanning over a decade. Her work involves mobilizing resources to expand access to education and creating awareness on wide spectrum of policy issues. This strive has been attained through conceptualizing and implementation of resource mobilization initiatives.

Currently, she serves as the Lead Resource Mobilization & Communication Coordinator at Edumed Trust. The Trust is a grassroot organization that was founded in 1996 with focus on providing educational opportunities and mentorship for marginalized and underprivileged students.

She has been instrumental in the Trust’s transformative agenda that has improved the lives of over 440 students in Kenya. Remarkable success of this initiative has been possible courtesy of resource contributions of over 80 % of well-meaning ordinary Kenyans.

One of the signature resource mobilization effort she has steered for over a decade is The Cake Festival. A unique annual event that affords the baking fraternity to showcase their products while supporting the education cause.

She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Communication Studies, 2016 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Media Studies, Development Communication all from the University of Nairobi (UoN). Currently, she is pursuing a doctoral (PhD) degree in Mass Communication at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). She also attained various professional certification beyond her discipline area.

Ms. Waichinga also tutors as an Adjunct Faculty at St. Paul’s University. Previously, she served as a Resource Mobilization Committee member in various non-profit organizations.
