Arfat is a passionate fundraiser and a social enterprise development professional with 25 years of experience working with nonprofits on the sustainability and institutionalization of giving. He has been a professional fundraiser since 1995 and started his own consultancy in 2002, which is considered a pioneer in fundraising models. He helped the paradigm shift in the thinking and giving pattern in his country, which is considered one of the most active philanthropic countries in Asia.
To date, more than 40 organisations that change lives have had transformational impact through his expertise. He addressed each organisation’s immediate funding needs through the use of fundraising “best practices” and proactive strategic counsel. His past and current partners include some of the largest and oldest medical institutions in Asia.
Arfat has been an active contributor in different social enterprise forums including Harvard, Oxford, Stanford and the Lahore University of Management Sciences Pakistan. His latest venture in this chain of transformation was the establishment and heading of the Resource Development Department at the Karachi School for Business & Leadership (KSBL) – an affiliation of University of Cambridge, London – where he served as director of resource mobilisation.
Arfat devised and implemented an innovative fundraising model that has generated millions in much needed funds helping thousands of deserving people. He loves sharing his knowledge and experiences and hopes to create a much larger impact with his model for other Third world countries.
