Peter Pomerantsev (UK)

Visiting Senior Fellow, Institute of Global Affairs, London School of Economics

How many of us, just a few short years ago, would have thought about propaganda and media bias is any sort of serious way? Fast forward to 2020 and fake news, the “plandemic”, and Cambridge Analytica are part of everyone’s vocabulary. Visiting Senior Fellow at the Institute of Global Affairs at the London School of Economics, Peter Pomerantsev, a propaganda and media development specialist, is the first plenary speaker at IFC Online.

An award-winning author and television producer, Peter has testified on the challenges of the information war to the US House Foreign Affairs Committee, the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and the UK Parliament Defence Select Committee. The award-winning author of Nothing is True and Everything is Possible and This is Not Propaganda: Adventures in the War Against Reality, he also has bylines in the Financial Times, London Review of Books, Politico, Atlantic and many more.

Born in Ukraine and having lived in Russia, Peter has written that he sees the same confusion now in the British public that he saw a decade ago on the streets of Moscow or Vladivostock. His mission is to help us understand how and why these societal shifts are happening, and what we can do about it.
