Thavirap Tantiwongse has been Public Affairs Director for GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Thailand since January 2011. He leads the development of local access policies and program implementation in the public sector, as well as enhancing GSK’s reputation and trust among external stakeholders. He is responsible for all areas of public affairs including government affairs, corporate and internal communications, media and external relations, community partnerships and health economics. Thavirap graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Physiology from The University College, London and also has a Medical Degree from St Catharine’s College, University of Cambridge, England. His professional career began as a medical officer in the UK. After returning to Thailand, Thavirap broadened his experience in the fields of commerce and management through employment at several industries including property, steel, automotive and business consulting. After spending several years in business management at both local and international firms; Thavirap advocated for and supported the establishment of the Central Institute of Forensic Science at the Ministry of Justice while growing its network to accredited international forensic agencies. Thavirap’s most recent position before joining GSK was Director, Health Systems Partnerships, for PReMA handling the interface with government and civil society for the trade association. Since joining GSK, he has secured novel partnerships with governments and non governments organizations for GSK, including with The Thai Red Cross Society, the internal security operations command and the STI sector.
