Nicholas Lee left his role as a Director of a multi-national consumer goods company (Unilever), to set up The Jodi Lee Foundation, following the death of his wife Jodi from bowel cancer in 2010. The Foundation promotes the prevention of bowel cancer in Australia, which has one of the highest rates of bowel cancer in the world. Nicholas has since brought his corporate business experience to the not-for-profit sector, successfully driving the growth of the Foundation.
In 2013, Nicholas secured a $2.5 million Federal Government grant to run a national advertising campaign, which was the first of its kind for bowel cancer in Australia. Nicholas also negotiated a major deal with the Australian Football League, using the sport’s high profile to drive further awareness. Nicholas plans to continue the national expansion of the Foundation’s programs and initiatives, saving lives by inspiring others to take bowel screening tests for early detection. In 2015, Nicholas was a South Australian Finalist in the Australian of the Year Awards.
