Changing the power dynamic in fundraising.
The paradox of resource allocation is well known to those working in our sector. From lived experience, communities know what their issues are – and what the solutions to those issues may be. Proximity is fundamental to success in addressing them. And yet, funding and resources are most often in the hands of those who are distant from those communities: the solution generators are in Dar-es-Salaam, the funding providers are in Washington DC.
To generate a sustainable solution, you must be in one place; to access resources to implement that solution, you have to be in another. How do these worlds meet? And how can they meet with a just power balance?
Funding landscape and connection mapping can help you find funders and shift the dial of power. This session will explore how you can create your own – and how knowledge can lead to collective action which can shift the balance of resources.
