Strategic Communications Skills Strategist, Entrepreneur, Emotional Intelligence Trainer

Derek is an entrepreneur and Managing Director of Public Image, where he works with organisations and professionals on improving their emotional intelligence, communication and soft skills to increase their earning potential. His clients are in banking, telecoms, hospitality, media, non-profit and manufacturing. He has worked with senior executives, professionals, athletes, public figures, politicians and students. Derek is a contributor in the media giving advice on all areas of soft skills and is a regular writer in magazines and newspapers. He is working on a book on Civility and Etiquette in Kenya.

He has a degree from S.H.U University in Connecticut, USA and studied for an MBA at the Helsinki School of Economics. He is a graduate of the Strathmore University Enterprise Development Programme and is certified in Image and Etiquette from Colourworks International in South Africa. He is a certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner with Genos International. He
worked at Bloomberg in New York and for the Edhec Risk Institute in France. He was also a senior consultant for the UK-based strategic communications consultancy africapractice.

Derek is a keynote speaker at conferences, launches and sales meetings. He is a corporate emcee and moderates local and international events. Derek is an ambassador with the Pan African Advocacy group Africa 2.0 and is a fitness and nutrition trainer.
