Since 2003, Jirka has worked exclusively in the nonprofit sector in various roles as a fundraising and marketing professional. Starting in smaller NPOs in Germany, his way led him from being a team leader at MSF to the role of fundraising director for MSF in Germany and Brazil. Within MSF, he also built the infrastructure for global data intelligence before taking up the role of fundraising director for IRC Germany, where he was responsible for building up a fundraising programme from scratch.
Jirka has the experience of working as a director of multidisciplinary teams and providing support and facilitation to NPO boards and directors. He is experienced in individual giving programmes across all relevant channels and is a strong advocate for data-driven decisions.
Jirka holds a business degree, specialising in marketing and HR, and a certificate in fundraising management from the German Fundraising Academy. In addition to his native German, he speaks fluent English and some Portuguese.
As a consultant for Daryl Upsall International, Jirka supports organisations in the development of fundraising strategies and expansion into new markets by assessing market potential, developing market entry strategies and risk assessments, and identifying investment requirements.
