Dr. Sotiris Petropoulos is the Co-founder of HIGGS, a non-profit focusing on capacity building, networking and consultancy support to Greek social economy initiatives. He is also Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of the Peloponnese, Greece. During the period 2008-2013 he has acted as Senior Consultant on International Donors Programs at Ernst & Young. He focuses on the Greek Philanthropy Sector both academically and in practice since 2009, having, among others, organized and delivered capacity building trainings to more than 350 non-profits in Greece and the Balkans supporting them to increase their operational and organizational capacity. Through HIGGS main programs, the Incubator and the Accelerator, he emphasizes on infusing technocratic aspects in the management of social economy initiatives. He has written various academic articles on the Greek Non-profit ecosystem and delivered talks on how the various stakeholders can enhance the development of philanthropy in Greece. In partnership with A.C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation he has established the yearly conference on Civil Society in Greece, while he is the chief editor of Civil Society Updates, HIGGS Flagship e-magazine.
