Meet Pia…

Who are your heroes?

I am fortunate to be in the position where I can meet everyday heroes weekly, people who are working passionately to make the world a better place. One person is nearly impossible to mention, but from Finland I would like to bring up Martti Ahtisaari, the former president of Finland who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2008 for his efforts to resolve international conflicts.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Carpe diem — and I am certainly living like that.

Why do you do what you do for a living?

Again, I have been very fortunate. I came to fundraising sector “by accident.” For many years I had the privilege to organise big sport events and eventually managed to combine my event marketing experience and sport network to charity work, which became my passion. From 2010, I have had a great opportunity to work with fundraisers both abroad and in Finland.

Family, friends, nature, sports, happiness and, at the moment, summer.
